Who Can Benefit?
CMC Microsystems offers products and services to faculty members and graduate students at Canadian universities who are registered clients of CMC.
CMC's clients include researchers from electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biology, physics, and medicine.

“Our team started working on larger-scale
robots two years ago, about the same time
that CMC introduced embedded systems
prototyping platforms for university
researchers. This allowed us to experiment
with wireless Internet connectivity and
control, embedded processors, power
electronics and sensors, all within a single
prototyping environment. This enabled us
to integrate different technologies into one
device and improve the capability of the
robot.”

How Do I Get Started?
To benefit from products and services offered by CMC, you must be a registered client with CMC. University researchers who are registered with CMC can access fabrication services, test equipment that can be controlled remotely, application notes and user guides, discussion forums to share knowledge, and many other products and services. These are delivered through the CMC Technology Gateway.
Faculty members and students can use a wide range of tools and technologies that may be installed at their universities, depending on licensing. These include design kits and CAD tools, computing stations and prototyping platforms, and test equipment.
How to Become a Client?
To join the many faculty members and graduate students who benefit from products and services offered by CMC, complete the registration form.
Once you have completed this form, CMC will conduct an assessment to confirm your eligibility as quickly as possible (for students, we usually contact your faculty supervisor). We will make every effort to confirm your eligibility within one business day. In some cases, more time may be needed to complete an eligibility check or to obtain any special approval required from our technology suppliers.
Should you have any questions about our registration process, please contact Heather Walker, CMC's Registrar at:
registrar@cmc.ca or 613.530.4665.

Why Should You Become A Client of CMC?
As a client of CMC, you will receive access to industry-grade products and services that support your microsystems research objectives, including:
- Computer-aided design tools, kits, methodologies, flows and intellectual property including libraries
- Prototype manufacturing sourced worldwide
- Rapid system prototyping (programmable hardware platforms and microprocessor intellectual property) targeting specific application areas
- Packaging, assembly and integration technologies
- Fixturing and test instrumentation
- Advanced RF, mixed-signal, photonic and digital systems test capability through the National Microelectronics and Photonics Testing Collaboratory
- Tutorials and other training materials
- Engineering support
This national infrastructure adds value to clients by:
- Maximizing the potential for researchers to share their knowledge and experience;
- Minimizing the cost of development, delivery and support that would otherwise need to be undertaken by each individual researcher;
- Enabling many researchers who would not normally be able to participate in the microsystems research area if the common infrastructure did not exist;
- Providing researchers with access to technical support, targeted training and networking opportunities that accelerate research efforts while decreasing time to graduation
