Other institutions, organizations or individuals with a strong
and demonstrated interest in, and commitment of resources
to, microsystems and related activities in Canada are eligible
for membership in CMC Microsystems.
Subject to this, a member which itself is neither a university
nor industry will have one or more of the following:
- A close relationship to a Canadian government, either
federal or provincial;
- Participation in the development of science and technology
policy in Canada, or in the funding of scientific developments
within Canada;
- Previous experience in the promotion of and advocacy
of policies affecting science or technology, with some demonstrated
orientation toward microsystems;
- Administrative experience or other relevant participation
in organizations directly or indirectly associated with
post secondary institutions in Canada;
- Prior relevant experience in the business community in
areas related to scientific and technologic activities which
may include business policy, business finance, or investment
in science or technology;
- Recognized leadership in microelectronics or microsystems;
- Such criteria as the Board considers relevant.
Specific areas of interest or involvement for the organization
may be in one or more of the following areas:
- Research, development or training in the design,
fabrication, testing or application including one or more
of the following:
- Microelectronics, MEMS, microfluidics, optoelectronics,
embedded software or system automation
- Assembly and or support of microsystems research teams
